Screwcap

Why the screwcap closure?

At Domain Day we believe in giving the consumer every chance of enjoying a quality wine, so using the screwcap closure removes the possibilty of the wine being affected by cork taint.

As the proportion of 'corked' wine is usually quoted as being approximately 5%, we have pleasure in increasing your chances of seeing the true characteristics of the wine from 95% to 100%.

And by the way, to us it is not a huge leap of faith to put our reds under screwcap closures. These closures have been used for popular, affordabe red wines on airlines for many years. Technically, there is very little difference between a bottle with a screwcap and storing a wine in a stainless steel tank.

So we apologize for sacrificing a small amount of the mystique of the tradition of the cork closure, but it is all in the name of quality.

"Red wines bottled under screwtop taste bolder, firmer and age more slowly than those bottled under cork. And they don't have the slightest chance being cork tainted"
