Garganega

As far as we know, we have the first Garganega planting outside of Italy at Domain Day.

The main white variety of Soave near Verona, Garganega could be described as a Chardonnay anologue but with a different suite of flavours -- tropical rather than peachy.

We have planted one of the new lower vigour clones. In 2004 we produced what we believe is the first Garganega to be vinified outside of Italy. A very small amount was released in early 2005.

The new generation Soave wines are our only real reference point. They show that the variety has excellent mouth feel, retains its freshness extremely well and takes wood ageing extremely well.
